The Niagara Peninsula’s unique geography featuring highly variable soils, microclimate and landforms within a small geographic area supports a major fruit and viticulture industry. Remotely-sensed imagery has been used in other grape-growing areas of the world to successfully identify sub-block management zones to guide the harvesting of grapes. Environmental Geosolutions is part of a consortium funded by the Ontario Centres of Excellence to introduce the benefits of image-based precision viticulture to the grape growers of Ontario. We have used our experience in this project to launch a full-service vineyard mapping product line targeting grape growers and wineries across North America
